For my analysis of an institution I attended Windham Technical High School. I observed half of a ninth grade English class in addition to a ninth grade honors English class. My host teacher’s name was Christopher Romano, and he is an extremely valued teacher. When I first arrived at the school, I went into the principal’s office to learn further about what a technical high school is and how its altered from a regular public school. The principal, Mark Ambruso, explains that at a technical high school, the students have two weeks of normal high school classes, and afterward two weeks of shop, and they alternate throughout the entire four years of high school. Personally, I use my clothing to express myself and to be creative in that way. (Quote) I was slightly taken back by the unifo rms, however, I understand that it benefits the children to focus on the task at hand, as well as preserve their socioeconomic status a secret. This can support bullying to disappear and encourage students to feel welcome. I feel that you can be creative in other ways, similar to how you fix your hair, or the shoes you wear. However, you cannot be fully creative if they are holding you back by your style and fashion. (Quote) In the first English class, I was only there for the last half of it. Before I came into the class, I was worried that I would not find any creativity because English can be a tough subject to add creativity too. The teacher, Mr. Romono, did a marvelous job of teaching the common core and maintaining his students interest, with creativity. Not only did he come up with a creative way to teach his students, or let his students accomplish creativity, his classroom was also creative. He had student’s artwork on his wall of characters from books they were read ing. He also had a ton of posters with different ideas behind them. (Quote). Gottfredson and Hirsch’s self-control theory revolves around one’s inclination to commit a crime or refrain from committing a crime based on low or high self-controls. It is a general crime theory that explains all crime at all periods in time. The principal factor is self- control. In this theory, a person with low self-control is much more likely to commit a crime then a person with high self-control. For Gottfredson and Hirsch’s definition of crime, they state that a crime is an act undertaken in a person’s pursuits of self-interests. People that are involved in criminal acts in this theory are also prone to impulsive behaviors that provide some form of short term gratification. Life-course offenders are only comprised of 5 percent of the population but account for 50 percent of the total crimes. Moffit notes that these offenders exhibit a form of psychopathology, with the root causes being related lack of full cognitive development or some kind of neuropsychological deficiency. A big reason why change is not likely for life-course offenders is that due to these deficiencies, their needs were not met as a child due to the lack of development of a bond with the parents. This creates a snowball effect later in the child’s life due to the weak bonds formed with society and anti-social behavior. On the other hand, Adolescent limited offenders go through a temporary period in their lifetimes where they are behaviorally problematic for a period that generally occurs between pubescent maturity and young adulthood. Adolescence-Limited’s are responsive to reinforcement contingencies and eventually these offenders maturity gap closes. Facebook as well as many other sites are very safe to use (if the proper measures are taken) that everyone has started making pages, from kids in middle school all the way up to those kids grandparents. Such sites allows the user to set it up their page anyway they want. They give many choices on who is allowed to view that particular page. The options consist of blocking the page from everyone who is not on the user’s friends list and not being able to be found in a search, to having a completely open page where anyone can see all that the sight as to offer. †¨Most of these sights also have restrictions to where would be users are blocked from using the sites at all, or with other such precautions Everyday people are becoming afraid that our communication between friends and families are breaking down a little more every second. This is simply not true; in fact it is the opposite because of how rapidly technology is changing it allowing us to communicate at any given moment with all our friends and family.
